Opus South Corporation:
New SSA Southeast Payment Processing Center
Objective: In 2005, PPR was selected by The Opus Group, a $4.4 billion real estate development company specializing in office, industrial, retail, multifamily, government and institutional development, to create and implement a strategy to officially announce the General Services Administration's new Social Security Administration facility in Birmingham, Alabama.
Strategies: The company entrusted its reputation to PPR to provide turnkey services for groundbreaking of the 600,000-square-foot Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building. Our initiatives included successfully developing media and community strategies, managing public/private protocols, issuing invitations, managing printed materials, assisting high-ranking corporate and government dignitaries, speechwriting, providing on-site logistics, security, accommodating individuals with special needs, audio-video, special interviews and coordinating an after-event VIP lunch.
Results: The event positioned Opus as an emerging presence in the Birmingham business community. This event also provided a venue to recognize its clients, the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). PPR raised the awareness of Opus, GSA and SSA as a key public/private venture with key, high-ranking federal officials. The event was covered by the three major TV news outlets in the Birmingham market as well as The Birmingham News and Birmingham Business Journal. Due in part to media attention for the project, the SSA building was also named a "Real Estate Deal of the Year" by the Birmingham Business Journal.
