A Corporate Culture of Giving
January 2009
Birmingham, Ala., January 9, 2009 — Giving back to the community is not simply part of the holiday spirit for Panorama; it is an ongoing aspect of its corporate culture of giving.
The firm recently celebrated its tenth anniversary by launching TEN (Time and Effort for Nonprofits), a campaign that benefited ten nonprofit organizations in the Birmingham area. In total, Panorama was able to donate more than 200 hours to its chosen nonprofits throughout the campaign to organizations that include: The Exchange Club of Birmingham, The Green Resource Center for Alabama, Hand-in-Paw, The Literacy Council, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, The Emergency Animal Rescue Service (TEARS), AIDS Alabama, The Community Kitchens, and Pathways.
The last three years, Panorama has partnered with the ALS Association to provide free public relations for the Walk to Defeat ALS, which raises money for research and community-based patient services programs that serve those with the disease. Not only does Panorama assist in marketing the event, but also enjoys participating in the walk as well. Last year, the Alabama chapter was able to raise $240,000 to support the ALS Association and its programs.
Panorama employees have also teamed up to support Pathways, an organization that provides shelter for homeless women and children in the Birmingham area. For the past six years, they have participated in the Annual Sporting Clay Shoot, which has raised around $250,000 for Pathways. This holiday season, Panorama, along with Dungan-Nequette architects, has organized a clothing drive to collect new and used clothes, sheets, and towels to be given to the organization.
“Panorama Public Relations has had great success in Birmingham and we thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to us. Giving back is not just a part of the Christmas season for us; it is an important element of our corporate culture,” said Sonja Lother, President of Panorama Public Relations.
Earlier this year, Panorama worked with the YWCA to create marketing materials for its Capital Campaign to help raise $6 million to provide the community’s homeless with better shelter and childcare services. This holiday season, the firm is donating gifts to the YWCA’s Santa Workshop, which gives the presents to families living in area homeless shelters and transitional housing programs.
Panorama continues its efforts by also donating time and food to the Multicultural Resource Center, or “La Casita”, which is preparing baskets of food for Latinos in need. “The economic downturn has affected them as well,” said Tommy Skinner, Business Development Associate for Panorama and advocate for the Hispanic community. “These baskets will be given to Latinos in the Birmingham metro area. Many have been affected by the economy and there are many families who need assistance.” ![]()
