Birmingham, Ala., March 5, 2008 — Panorama Public Relations and Central Alabama’s YWCA recently partnered to raise awareness for the Strengthening Our Families, Strengthening Our Communities Capital Campaign.

Panorama worked with the YWCA to create marketing materials for its Capital Campaign to originally help raise $6 million during the campaigns first year to provide the community’s homeless with better shelter and childcare services. Panorama developed the campaign logo and designed the fundraising packet, enabling the YWCA to communicate with its community about its campaign initiatives. Through the efforts of the community and the committed volunteers, the campaign is now approaching the $10 million mark.

The YWCA identified funding needs for three main areas: renovating and expanding shelter services in Blount and St. Clair Counties and at the Interfaith Hospitality House, developing and maintaining the Skills for Success program, and sustaining the long-term projects monetarily.

Interfaith Hospitality House, a shelter for families in the Woodlawn community, lacks adequate facilities to serve the area’s demonstrated needs. Blount and St. Clair Counties currently have no shelters to house people in at-risk situations. The Skills for Success program, encompassing childcare and adult learning programs, requires additional licensed staff to maintain its national certification, a status held by only five percent of childcare centers nationwide.

The YWCA aims to strengthen these programs by raising the necessary funds through Panorama’s communication tools. The YWCA hopes not only to alleviate immediate problems but also to develop long-term solutions to poverty and homelessness for the benefiting families. Their goal is to assist those families in securing work, education and stable housing.
