Sustainability Statement
Panorama Public Relations is committed to doing business in an environmentally-responsible manner. As a company, we have practiced an ethos that seeks to reduce waste, recycle materials and utilize environmentally-friendly products in our everyday business activities.
As a public relations firm, Panorama is devoted to helping other companies communicate messages regarding their own pledges to implement sustainable business practices. Panorama will recommend paperless communication tactics whenever it is feasible to do so and will educate companies on methods for introducing sustainable business strategies in their own operations.
Our company will continuously evaluate our practices and find new avenues to implement sustainable practices.
On-going Initiatives:
- Reduction of used materials and resources:
- Discourage printing of emails
- Use of email instead of paper to route bulletins or memos
- Centralized purchasing system
- Reuse printed paper for draft printing or scratch paper
- Reuse supplies where applicable (i.e. binders, paper clips)
- Recycle of consumed materials
- Bins to collect recyclables: cardboard, mixed paper, glass bottles, aluminum/metal, plastic
- Return ink/toner cartridges to manufacturer for recycling
- Donate obsolete technology to nonprofits for repurposing
- Utilize environmentally-friendly products
- Require janitorial vendors to use green cleaning products
- Purchase office supplies that are made from recycled content, including copy/printer paper, envelopes, letterhead, business cards, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, garbage bags
- Transit efficiency:
- Favor conference calls over physical meetings where applicable
- Allow for flexibility in home-work
- Recommendations to clients
- Implement campaigns that communicate sustainable business practices
- Recommend digital/reusable materials to replace printed/physical materials where applicable (i.e. newsletters, news releases, FTP instead images for media, web pages instead of brochures, etc.)
- Design marketing materials that reduce paper usage (i.e. self-mailers)
New Strategies to Implement:
- Further reduction of used materials and resources:
- A paperless AP-AR system
- Direct deposit for payroll to reduce printed checks
- Implement a fax-to-email system
- Water/energy usage tracking
- Transit – Use DART for destinations within Birmingham’s city center
- Conduct sustainability audit to determine areas for improvement
- Implement FTP site to reduce need for sending printed/physical files
Future Business Initiatives:
- Implement LEED or other similar design guidelines for any future office space
- Favor EnergyStar and sustainable technology for future capital expenditures when available and financially viable
- Lease computers and printers
- Implement technologies (i.e. video conferencing) that allow the company to do business in an efficient manner
